H.E. Mr. Phuchphop Mongkolnavin, Ph.D.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Romania


H.E. Mr. Phuchphop Mongkolnavin joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand in 2001, following the completion of his Ph.D. in International Law at the University of London. Over the course of his distinguished career, he has served in various positions in the Department of Protocol, Department of Treaties and Legal Affairs, and the Department of International Organizations. He also served in the Office of the Prime Minister as a speechwriter and coordinator for foreign affairs.


His diplomatic career includes key overseas postings and high-level international representation:


* Permanent Mission of Thailand to the United Nations, New York (2004–2008): Represented Thailand in the Third and Sixth Committees, managing portfolios dedicated to human rights and international legal affairs, respectively. During this tenure, he was also seconded to the Office of the President of the 60th and 61st Sessions of the UN General Assembly, advising on international law and counter-terrorism initiatives.


* Royal Thai Embassy, London (2013–2017): Served as Head of Protocol as well as covering bilateral relations and diplomatic operations in the United Kingdom and Ireland.


* Department of International Organizations (2021–2026): Served as Deputy Director-General, responsible for Thailand’s policy on multilateral diplomacy and UN-related affairs.


He assumed his current post as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Romania in August 2026, and presented his credentials to the President of Romania on 4 September 2026.


Ambassador Mongkolnavin is married to Mrs. Phantuma Mongkolnavin, and has two children.
