On 23 March 2017, Thailand Foundation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, today announced the launch of “Street Food Phuket”, “Street Food Chiang Mai Chiang Rai”, and the Chinese version of “Street Food Bangkok” applications introducing locally recommended places to eat around Thailand to savvy travelers looking for authentic culinary experiences.

A gastronomical dream, Thailand is undoubtedly among the world’s top destinations for street food.  Street food is a part of the Thai way of life and are found everywhere in the country offering food at any time of the day, ranging from meals, snacks and desserts. Realizing the potential of street food in promoting culinary tourism, Thailand Foundation with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has developed a series of “Street Food” applications, which bring to light local culinary hidden gems. Starting with the English version of “Street Food Bangkok” in 2015, the series has now been updated with a Chinese version and expanded to other destinations including “Street Food Chiang Mai Chiang Rai” and “Street Food Phuket”.

In line with the Thailand 4.0 policy, the applications provide innovative tools to technology-savvy modern-day travelers who seek real travel experiences to explore locally recommended eateries in destination cities around Thailand. Available now in English and Chinese languages, and on both iOS and Android operating systems, the applications are designed to be user-friendly offering an easy browse through a variety of local dishes, locally recommended menus, and an in-app navigating system for selected stalls / shops.

What is special about “Street Food Phuket”? – Featuring local favorite street food vendors and stalls, “Street Food Phuket” application also introduces local cuisine and specialties of this world-famous island destination. Through this application, you would experience a variety of specialties, ranging from Hokkien-influenced dishes to the island’s favorite fresh seafood grilled for your preferred appetite, found at street vendors, local shops or night markets in Phuket.
